problems...knock sensor?
Ok so I have an VIII with all bolt ons, 272 cams, and a IX turbo. When we get it on the dyno it is reading huge counts of knock every once in a while even when we aren't doing a pull. The car is way down on power as it is only making around 300. Could it be a bad knock sensor?...haven't heard of people having problems. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
When my friends six came off the boat from Japan it was absolutely dead. We did some datalogging and found it was picking up a lot of knock, like sometimes 9 counts just reving it in neutral.
At first we thought it was because the car came with 100% solid metal engine mounts. But after some more looking we found the knock sensor wire was chewed threw. Seemed to have been some rats down at the port because there was a couple chicken bones on top his gearbox
Anyway the car ran perfect after this and a new actuator cuz that was dead too.

Theres a bunch of threads about the phantom knock. I had it also. Im using a different knock sensor completely.
When you go with too many mods the stock sensor is too sensitive and or isn't tuned for the right frequency and goes ballistic from all the new sounds or something of that nature.
