2 Exhausts

After thorough searching and research I have narrowed my exhaust options down to two systems.

*Tanabe Concept G Blue
*Megan Turbo Back

If anyone knows anything about these or has used them, help me out
I can spend anywhere from $500- 900 for a turbo back.

They're going to give you the same results and very similar sounds. Tanabe looks a little cooler but is more money. Go on youtube. There's plenty of videos there scrubby.

Smile Take my advice...

I have done so much hardcore research on the different exhaust for the Evo VIII/IX. I was pretty close to getting the Concept G Blue, but it's not a fully 3 inch exhaust. I believe it's around 2.75 inch. Also, it doesn't look that nice on the Evo and it doesn't sound the way an exhaust should on an Evo. You also mentioned the Megan turbo back and I have heard a lot of good things about it and it's one of the most affordable turbo backs for the Evo. I have heard that it's pretty loud and it sounds good. But at the end, my advice is to not get either one of the two exhaust that you have come down to. I would get the AMS 3 inch turbo back with the test pipe. The price for it is 849.00+shipping, which comes to a total of about $890.00. AMS is very good with the performance on all kinds of Evo's. I personally bought the Trust Ti-r, but that is much higher than the $900.00 budget that you have. And plus it's only a catback, therefore you'd have to buy the downpipe/test pipe in addition. I know, I know, I spent a fortune on only my exhaust , but I truly love everything about it. If I didn't get the Trust Ti-R, than I would have gotten the AMS turbo back. It looks good, sounds awesome, and has one of the best fitment and performance in the exhaust department for the Evo. Go to amsperformance.com if you're interested. All the best!

I'm pretty sure he was asking about the two he listed, AS A RESULT of thorough searching. Well back on topic I have the Megan and I absolutely love it. It's not loud at all, until you go WOT. And trust me, comparing to the AMS (ask me how I know) it will sound almost stock so I guess this guy up here didn't really search too well. I would buy the Megan over, and over, again. As far as performance it also does great, it's a full 3", and one of the CHEAPEST out there. Bang for the buck is ridiculous with the Megan, cause in the end 3" piping is just that. Contact Zeus on here as he has the lowest prices on here, and awesome customer service . GL in whichever you choose.

I am considering the Megan as my first choice and am noticing a lot of members are commenting on how quiet it is. I am looking for optimum performance and sound. I want people to hear it but not to the point where it starts to annoy me. But at the same time I don't want it to sound stock. Thanks!

The Megan exhaust is a great buy. Sound isnt too loud but it has a great tone on WOT. In fact i prolly will post a WTT post soon for my HKS Carbon-Ti for a Megan and some cash.

I can recommend the Tanabe Concept G Blue, it's a great exhaust. It's a top performer and perfect IX fitment, and I really mean perfect.

As far as it having a 2.75" dp, yes it does. It clears the bars and is a good distance from drivetrain components even on MR's. It also retains the OEM spring bolts and uses all stock mounting locations. It does not seem to detract from it's power making ability. I've trapped 111 and 113 in my MR on 93oct with not much other than this exhaust, boost, and tune.

Has Megan redesigned their DP to fit IX MR's? The one I've seen didnt fit very well.

Yes they have. The one you saw was the one with the flex pipe that was not intended for the ACD (which people were still trying to do). This one was their official downpipe for the IX and 05's(which I have and fits perfect without spacers or anything).

you should have a look at JUN BL exhausts. The build quality is awesome. The price is also ok.

Personally the greddy ti-c is the best sounding exhaust for the money. A little loud but nothing too crazy. I have heard a lot of megan turbobacks and they are a little on the higher pitched sound compared to my hi-power. Cruising my car is very quiet and deep then at wot well it screams.

Maybe I'm just a sexist but, I would not put ANYTHING Megan on my car. So Tanabe is my choice. Oh and if their exhaust are anything like their coilovers then HUGE skip.

It's like the difference between buying the store brand food and the good stuff.

Is the Tanabe Turbo Back louder than the Megan?
I have tried clips on YouTube but have seen nothing in regards to the evo.

It really doesn't bother me how loud the exhaust is going to be, just not overly loud but louder than stock is what I'm going for. I appreciate the help guys and girls.

I personally like the sound of Megan better, I've heard plenty of different exhausts on evo's and I just like that Megan isn't excessively loud but rather sort of deep. When you get on it tho it's loud enough to catch attention. Just my personal opinion though.. I just got a Megan 3" cat-back exhaust and I love it! And I have a Megan turbo-back on my TSI
