Advice regarding EVO I problems
Advice regarding EVO I problems
Newbie here, quick question for all the EVO gurus sifting through these forums, I have an EVO I
in need of some repairs ( I assume) Ok here are the probs. Everytime you accelerate (low boost) from first to second gear whenever the car reaches 4000 + RPMS I hear this loud rattling sound somewhere near the rear. I've had people tell me it's the exhaust housing and some people tell me it's the clutch. Second prob, whenever the clutch is engage I hear this noise somewhere near the gearbox, I depress the clutch noise goes away, I apply clutch noise comes back. Third, 5th gear grind
. Pretty sure it;s the gear synchro. From what I've read from some of the posts, the probs could be the throw out bearing (whatever that is) clutch and gear synchro. Now questions is, are these all related problems, so that when I bring my evo to the shop, it's all one big fix? I know that the labor would be pretty expensive so I was hoping that if I replace the clutch (if it is indeed the clutch with the prob) I can ask the japanese techs to fix the synchro and bearing prob too. Need some advice guys before I spend a ton of cash
