Hard question to answer. My car has an HTA35r on it, the car has gone 9.4 at 155and I drive it on the street just like that, no changes. It is laggy though compared to a green/red. The green/red are much more fun to drive and with the Red running 10.3 on Trent's full weight daily driver that makes for a very good turbo.

Hard choice, Red is more street friendly and fun to drive but if you can tolerate the lag of the 35r then going from 0-155 mph in 9 seconds on the street is fun too. haha

I vote for green/red. I think the best is the green turbo offered by turbodynamics. They take the fp green and convert it to ball bearing. This turbo has better spool/response than the regular green, and a couple of tenth more horsepower!
It does cost usd 4100 + shipping from England though.

Evo's must be primary considered as road going rally cars. They are very good cars in the 1/4 mile, which is a plus, but not their main purpose.

I can believe the statement about the improved turbo spoolup and transient response. However, you lost me where you claim, " a couple tenths more horsepower!", for the TurboDynamics Green. Did you mean, a couple tenths of one brake horsepower, or what? I guess that if you're willing to spend over $4K on a stock type turbo with negligible power gains over the standard, journal bearing FP Green, then you'd probably find solace in claims of a 0.2 BHP increase.

i meant couple of tens
like 20-30 bhp, as turbodynamics say. The turbo DOES have a 4" compressor inlet (when converted by TD)

if you send them your green, they will charge 600 pounds for the bb conversion, and 200 pounds for 4" compressor inlet. 240 more pounds for porting / coating, but you can have this done for usd 150 by fp.

Once the red is out, there is a possibility they'll be doing the same with it.

I'll search for the link on the TD bb fp green and post right away.

i really dont see a bad choice up there?

Its more like what power level do you want out of your car....and how much lag your willing deal with.

Sorry cannot have both...always a give and take.

But since we are on the subject for a turbo i would choose the HTA35R.....lag to power seems the best IMO.

1200 american dollars to have the Center section machined to fit a BB cartridge is a bit steep to have added reliability. Most would Opt to just buy another Green.

Now there might be a market for the larger Compressor inlet.

Edit: For those that dont know about the reason why some like Ball Bearing over Journal Bearing turbos

Quote from Garrett:
"The ball bearing cartridge gives better damping and control over shaft motion, allowing enhanced reliability for both everyday and extreme driving conditions. In addition, the opposed angular contact bearing cartridge eliminates the need for the thrust bearing commonly a weak link in the turbo bearing system."

Normally i would vote for the FPred, but It's too hard to vote for a turbo that you can't get your hands on as of yet.

EE I only found one person using the BB green on the UK lancerregister but his dyno did not show anything dramatic compared to a regular green. I will wait for the BB red!

well 1 guy isn't enough, plus you shouldn't see anything dramatic, it's only 20-30 bhp plus couple of hundred sooner spool. These figures may have been offseted by other parts this guy have on his car (intercooler, exst mani, o2 housing, throttle body, etc....). Just to give you an idea, on the regular fp green, people have anywhere between 350 and 450 bhp... add to this the difference in dynos...
complete mess

as for waiting for the BB red, we are still waiting for the REGULAR red

Thanks for your input, I had the 35HTA and didn't mind the lag, im going to try the 88hta now, with the 35HTA I only did 10.80's with all of your stuff , the car was full weight and we race in tropical climate, maybe you can help me a little with the timing map for the AEM,
