How is everyone getting manifold and dp bolts loose?

How is everyone getting manifold and dp bolts loose?

Im trying to get my turbo manifold off but im having trouble with one bolt. Im afraid of rounding it off so im thinking i may have to purchase a blowtorch to heat the nut. Im also having the same problems with 2 down pipe bolts. Ive tried everything from PB too liquid wrench.

Any pointers? or am i just going to have to try my luck with a little heat.

Try some heat, and a punch. heat it cherry red, and then punch the head or the end of the bolt. Let cool and try. If that doesn't do it then think about cutting or cracking the nut off. if you go this route you'll want to be careful, and clean up the threads when you're done.

Its a tubular manifold so i can get a socket on it, my only hope is a open ended wrench, and with the way the head is designed it makes it a little tough, i think i need a wrench with a slight offset.

Looks like heat will have to do.

Not sure if you have tried this method or not but here is another thing to try.

Put the wrench you are using on the bolt and slip an additional open end wrench into the end in your hand. This will give you some added leverage and works similar to a breaker bar for a socket. This is if you have not tried this method already anyway. I agree though soak that bolt up and let it sit for a bit then hit it again.

Then if all else fails heat it up or get a really good pair of vise grips.

Not sure about the manifold..... but for the DP bolts, I just busted out the breaker bar with a decent extension, and that worked like a charm. GL buddy!

If you're going to punch the thing, please use a hammer, not your knuckles

You can buy the perfect wrench, I think crapsman makes it.... it has a 12mm on one side and a 14mm on the other, box end with a slight offset on each side, it is perfect for the manifold bolts! I would recomend that wrench before buying a torch and heating it......

PS i got the mani off, lil heat, snap on break line wrench (with offset) and it came right off. As for the DP bolts, homemade breaker bar I may make a build thread since im taking most of the car apart.

I couldn't get the DP bolts off of my friends DP either. We heavily loaded the bolts with PB Blaster and waited about five minutes. Then while I held the wrench, I had a friend rest his foot on the wrench and gently push it loose. Hey it worked!
