02 Sensor Question

Will a damaged rear 02 sensor wire cause my car to not start? My car cranks but doesn't fire up. Any help would be great!

It could if the O2 signal and ground are shorted out, it will possible damage your ECU or pop the engine fuse. But if the rear O2 sensor is disconnected it will only give you a cell. I've heard of some local guys had their cars bottom out, wires bust off their rear O2 sensor and short against the chassis. Their main engine fuse blew up.

I'm not sure which wire is the ground or 02 signal but one of the black wire looks pretty bad...is it possible to fix a damaged wire instead of buying a new 02 sensor?

Blue is O2 signal/white is ground. 2 black wires are for your heater wires. If you can solder it should be fine. Make sure if you solder disconnect your negative battery terminal to be safe, good luck.

Check your fuses, and also are you tuned? Could perhaps be a immobilizer issue, but it sounds like youve shorted the secondary o2 sensor.

So do you think when the wire got pinched it may have shorted out and blew the main engine fuse?

Well here's what happend. I just installed an HKS Hi Power catback and when I tightened all the bolts and then start the car...it wouldn't start. It would turn over normally but just doesnt fire up. So I checked everything again and then realized that the secondary 02 sensor wire got pinched between the cat and the mid-pipe. The wire doesn't seem to be badly damaged I mean it was all intact but I did put electrical tape to make sure. So when the wire was no longer pinched...I went to go start the car and it still wouldn't fire up. Every other electrical stuff in the car works perfectly fine and it turns over perfectly normal but just doesn't fire up. Im now thinking its a blown fuse. But which fuse should I be checking?

Nevermind....it was a blown 20a fuse. It started perfectly fine after I changed it. Thanks for all of your help!
