Impressions on my precision 6262

so i installed the turbo monday and had a friend come up to do the road tune last night. its been killing me all week not to boost the car waiting for the tune. well last night made the wait worth it. this turbo performed very well on pump 93 octane. there were no issues with surge what so ever. you could start a 5th gear pull at 2000 rpms and this turbo wouldnt surge. most of the tuning was done at 24 psi with the intent of running 25 psi daily on pump. we did quite a few pulls at 28 psi just to see how it felt and what the numbers looked like. 28 psi felt great in this car with this turbo. i do not have any dyno numbers yet due to the fact it was all done as road tuning. i hope to maybe make it to a dyno soon but its hard finding one in eastern pa. the spool on this turbo wasnt as bad as most would think. some predicted mid 5000's for spool. I was hitting full 25 psi of boost by 5100. anyone who has been on the fence about this turbo i would recommend it. maybe the guy who tuned me can chime in if he reads this and let everyone know his impressions of this turbo. as of right now i couldnt be happier with the tune of turbo. i cant wait for a tune on some race gas. i know this turbo loves high boost. while tuning i melted the vaccum line off the wastegate and developed a hole. on one pull we went above 30 psi and it pulled crazy hard. i look forward to seeing the full potential of this turbo.

That turbo seems to be making good power! be careful though if you doing all that on pump gas.

you need some pneumatic vacuum lines!

it should be pretty safe. the most we saw was two counts of knock at 28 psi and it was before boost was even built. im just amazed with the drivability of this turbo. the tune is so smooth it feels like your driving a stock evo until you nail the gas. i will be throwing in some race gas tuning soon on vp 109 and then eventually working on c-16

6262 looks like it is shaping up to be quite the solid all around turbo.. Very comparable to the 35r hta.. 5100rpm & 25 psi is very good spool!!! Nice work, and good luck.. Keep us informed if you dyno the car.. Mike

If you in Eastern PA man... head over to Ohio and give Burschur a visit. He'll tune it for ya. And since he has first hand experience with the HTA35 he can chime in on the comparison.

I tuned John's car. The turbo hit peak load at 5100 initally but after playing with the spoolup AFRs it hits peak load at 4800 RPMs which should be fairly consistant with the boost levels. I really couldn't say boost vs. RPM as John dosen't have a JDM map sensor currently..To me it felt like a GT35R would..Johns car was tuned conservatively nipping 13 degrees of timing up top with AFR's running 11.4's down to 11.1-10.9 by 8300 rpm. The car felt great with only hitting 2 counts of knock occasionally after about 12 pulls on the highway last night..23-24 felt nice but you cold tell this turbo wants more boost in a big way..30psi on some race gas should turn his car into animal lol Can't wait to get to the track!!

Mike, I'd definitely say it's comparible..The jury is still out on a back to back comparison as far as I'm concerned, but given the price point of this turbo it's very hard to beat.. There were no surging or drivability issues with this turbo whatsoever. My philosiphy is trap speeds>dyno numbers unless you are doing a back to back comparison

Thanks for the feedback..We are doing our best to try to get some testing done with this turbo we just dont have the car to put it on.. My car is t4.. Like you said pricing makes this a great turbo.. Also, we can get them in a very reasonable amount of time if we dont have it in stock which in most cases we stock the 6262 and 6265.. Whereas some of the other choices are several weeks wait..

Exactly the reason John went with turbo I'm sure.

its a precision and its a 62mm. pete thanks for chiming in. i didnt wanna throw your name out there unless you wanted to chime in. i have honestly been tuned by other big names on this forum. Pete did twice the job of these guys with more passion. pete i look forward to having you do a race gas tune. haha after the wastegate line snapped and we hit big boost we both knew this turbo will be a beast on race gas. i waited 6 weeks for an hta 35r before i finally cancelled the order. once i switched to the 6262 i had it in three weeks and also for 400 dollars less. i know fp put the hta 35r up against the 6265 from precision but i dont think that was fair. i think if you lined up the 6262 vs. the hta 35r you would have a good comparision. pete i believe you and me may be the first ones to get this turbo out in the public and tuned. i honestly have no regrets going with this turbo. some big names on here may call this a budget turbo and say its anti lag housing is like swiss cheese but the simple fact is this turbo performs at a very reasonable price. i would recommend this turbo to anyone in a heart beat. i havent even had it at the track yet and i can tell just by the feel and how it drives that its a winner. again this is a HUGE THANKS TO MY FRIEND AND TUNER PETE. he made getting this turbo worth every penny.
