is it safe to run untuned?

basically i'm getting tuned... its just i have all the mod's in my sign... and i'm getting cams put it and the tuner who i want to tune the car is in alabama... i'm in GA

i was wondering would the car be okay to drive that far without a tune.... of course i'm not going to be hauling ... all the way down there but i just want to know if its safe enough to drive 3-4 hours after i install the cams... because i'm doing the cam instal my self... or i would take it to a shop down there and have them install it... ?

thanks
the car hasn't been tuned at all no flashes nothing stock ecu... no mail in's

hmmm, u probably have a lil knock right now, and the cams would make it knock even more... i wouldnt do it, but maybe at the cruising load cells it could POSSIBLY be ok but wait and see what every1 else says..

yeah i've logged it and it does have a little knock right now... i mean on highway i would just cruise at like 60-70 and try to stay out of boost... basically not go over 3000 rpm... its just i don't want to waste money tuning it when i'm getting cams and then tuning it again

you'll be fine. I and many others drove around untuned with cams for awhile without any problems as long as you don't go WOT. I personally drove 3 months with hks 272's with no problems but keep in mind I kept the revs south of 4.

It's usually ok to drive as long as you stay off-boost.

Cams might affect your idle but I think it would be fine to drive to get tuned.

Hopefully some others will chime in.
