Wiseco pistons in 2.3 stroker

Hi guys

I'm building a 2.3 stroker for my car and ordered a Eagle crank/rob kit which come with the Wiseco 85.5 pistons. I talk to one of New Zealand best Evo shops and they say their shop won't build a evo motor with Wiseco pistons. Aparently the heat treatment process is different to others and have had issues with expansion in the bore.

Anyone had any problems with Wiseco pistons in their cars? Or is the shop trying to sell JE pistons. I'm going to build the motor myself but want to make sure I get a good combo.

Thanks

Most of the time I've used JE's, they've smoked. The also have a reputation for that. Funny thing is, Wiseco bought JE several years ago
FWIW we've been using CP pistons for all our applications. Most of the time we have to have them custom made, but we get really good life outta them, and their design is good for a little more power. I know Crower uses them in their stroker kit, but you might have to check with CP to see if they have the size you need.

My JAM stroker uses Wiesco pistons. I trust them over a shop in NZ. They have 10 years experience with the 4G63.

Depends on if they're the regular wisecos or the HDs. The regular ones have a poor skirt design and are known to crack in stroker applications with high piston speeds and side loading. Some say this is due to pin flex, and the HD's just happen to come with a thicker pin, but the HD's also have better strutting of the skirts and a better design all around.

Though, I'd go with some CPs if it were me. Their customer experience is top notch, and wiseco's hasn't been so great in my experience.

All of Buschur's pistons are made by JE. It's safe to say that more real race cars in the United States use JE Pistons than any other brand. Wiseco pistons are great for the price, you shouldn't be too concerned about them.

Make sure your piston to wall clearance is correct for your application. Too much clearance can cause oil control problems and lead to smoking. The manufacturers recommend a clearance for each application.

I have used Wiseco pistons in my 517 whp 2.3 stroker for a while with no problems. Do not use oil, no oil blowing out from crankcase ventilation and no rattle when cold. Reving to 8500 rpm.

I have used them a ton of times with no problems what so ever.

You will be fine with them.

I think your answers are going to be all over the place with this question. Based on my experience its not so much the parts as the build. You could have the most expensive stuff money can buy and if something is not done correctly on the build, it could blow up just as quickly, no matter what pistions you used.
