need help with engine rebuild ?'s

My 03 Evo had engine problems, long story short, my engine is getting somewhat rebuilt via my mechanic because i ****ed it up. Insurance is covering most of this however now that they are taking my engine apart what else should i go ahead and throw in there since they are taking my engine apart to repalce the crank-shaft. I was told to get some pistons by my mechanic however I am asking you guys in the comuntiy what i should do. I was also advised by my mechanic that my turbo is showing lots of wear and some play and that it looks like it might go out soon so an upgrade might be in order. What should i throw on there? whats a good daily driver turbo that will net me some gains but not break the wallet. i have finally realised that this is not a race car, its my daily driver that i want to go fast...but then again its not like i am ever racing...just want nice performance.

lets see what this gets i will add up more info if anyone needs it

I would definitely just do a stroker kit since the engine is already being completely taken apart.

If your mechanic doesn't have a lot of experience with Evo engines, it may just be safer to purchase an assembled shortblock from a reputable vendor like AMS.
