I am also shopping for a clutch kit. There are tons of posts, but reading through them isn't particularly helpful, or you get worried the conclusiong are outdated and not relavent.

If you suggest the Exedy Twin, Why? And why twin, what is the compromise/trade off.

I am considering the ACT HDSS. free breathing, self tuned, stock turbo.

Or if this is too painful for you long timers tip me/us off to a couple of the better threads.

Thanks

Th HDSS is a great clutch for a DD car. It ran very well in my car for about 50k I want to say then it started to give me lock out issues.

Next time Im going twin. Ill need it for the power i'll be making

I'm still running the stock clutch at 26k miles. When it starts to go, I'm most likely going to get an ACT. I don't even plan on having 400whp or launching my car from every red light, so I think I can pass on the Exedy Twin.

I daily drive my Evo and would be happy with 350whp... and ACT would be fine for that. No reason to jump on the $1400 Exedy bandwagon.

Exedy HD Twin with the AMS Push conversion. That way you never have to worry about the clip breaking.

And as for the ACT, the pedal is HEAVY and it has lock-out issues. The Exedy is just a much more user friendly clutch.

thats exactly what im thinking. My clutch just started slipping, I know the twin would be over kill on my set up. Im about 340whp or so and I have yet to drag the car, lol. So I think a nice exedy or act should be more than enough.

Tiltons are great if you are a straight drag car, they wear out very quick.

I had a brand new Tilton Twin Carbon sitting at Buschur for my build. My car is a DD though and the $4K Tilton would have been slipping in a month or 2.

The Exedy is an excellent street clutch that can still handle power and lasts longer. I am on a Exedy Triple Metallic and putting the conversion kit in this winter. The Exedy is just much less harsh, it engages smoother and is more user friendly. The Tilton is by far the BEST DRAG CLUTCH. PERIOD. But if its a street car, the Exedy Cerametallic cannot be beat!

I've been told by many people to just buy their "no name" clutch

Seems Fidanza hasn't been thrown out, and often not a consideration. However by far best bang for the buck, I have the 3.2 and lightened flywheel. Exedy is a great clutch however for the money you should get more

I would go with either the Exedy with the conversion:

Fidanza 3.2

Fidanza Flywheel:
