Wastegate problem

I recently had a boost issue. The boost was running at 11psi. I wanted to test if it is the wg or something else. I disconnected the hose from the wg and then went out for a drive. It boosted pretty high. Close to 25 psi. Does this mean i have to replace the wg? or can i fix this problem? thanks

so what was your original boost problem? wastegate opens around 8-11psi. if you want to test it get a hand pump with a gauge and pump it until it opens. Do a boost leak test. search for how to make a tester its quite easy.

If its stock, that's seems fine. Are you on the stock BCS or a MBC/EBC

That means you have a boost control problem. What is being used for boost control? Factory or aftermarket? If factory, do you still have factory lines?

With the hose *off* the actuator the turbo will boost as much as it can. With a hose *on* the actuator and the other end to a pressure source, it will only boost wastegate which is around 11psi.

no. if you disconnect the pressure source to the wastegate it is suppose to overboost by alot. What is the boost issue that you are working with?

If you are not boosting more than 11psi then look for a cut line, boost leak, or a failed boost controler (oem or Aftermarket)

Have you always had a boost gauge? If so, has there been a sudden or dramatic change in the boost level. What year is your car? Did you buy it new or from a private party? The car has no mods whatsoever?
