8 turbo VS 9 turbo

Ok guys i have an 03 Evo 8. i have the stock 9.8 hotside and i wanted to get the 9 turbo cause it has the 10.5 hotside. Now is that the only difference is the hotside? Technically couldnt i just buy the bigger hotside for like under $300 instead of having to but a whole 9 turbo. Or are there other differences?

Thanks

Search. If you did that you'd have an 05 turbo. IX has a bigger compressor housing as well as the 10.5

This is a picture of an Evo IX turbo next to an Evo VIII turbo. It flows a little better and you can upgrade it to a fpgreen. Some say it gives a little more hp than the Evo VIII with the 10.5 hotside.

As easy as it is to buy a used IX turbo.... I'm weary about buying a used turbo.

well if you want to buy one new from the dealer get ready to shell out some cash, most of the time they have low miles just have to make sure before you buy one.
