Transfer Case had no oil

well, almost no oil.

I changes the fluid in it about 7500 ago and went to change it again, but there was almost no oil in there. Supposed to hold .58 quarts and maybe .1 came out....

Where could this be leaking? I don't hear any whining or feel anything strange from it so I hope it's not terribly damaged, but I need to get this fixed. I filled it back up with Diaqueen and I'm hoping for the best right now.

Axle seems to be ok, didn't see anything wrong with it....

It took about .3 or .4 quarts of fluid when I filled it...maybe a bit less...

Dumb question but it's worth asking. Was the car level when you drained and filled the t-case?

Yeah. I raised it to take the plug out, then dropped it to the ground. Just a trickle when the drain plug was pulled and barely more when it was lowered. Maybe it needs to be sent to TRE

How much did it take when you filled it back up?

I've had a couple of EVOs that simply wouldn't drain all the fluid. When you start doing the clutch and yank the xfer case it will spill all over.

tre has a pretty long disclaimer that after filling the case the car needs to be driven over 25 mph then refiller again. Either It didnt all drain out of it or was under filled last time.

There would be a huge mess if it were leaking externally.

It hasn't been sent to TRE before...it's all stock. I was just thinking that maybe it needs to be rebuilt. I messed with the clutch and all that good stuff and lowered the passenger side only as well to see if the fluid would come out.

It took about .4 quarts after I drained it, but less than .1 had come out when it was drained, so something is going on.
