2.3L Info Thread... Any one with a 2.3 please chime in!!!

I am looking for data on 2.3's so I can make up my mind if it is the right motor for me...

Can you guys with 2.3's please chime on this criteria please:

How many miles on your 2.3L?

What is the highest RPM that the motor sees and how frequently does it see this RPM?

If you have results on the same setup that you currently have with a 2.0 vs 2.3... that would be great .. to see the difference in spool and power band..

Who is the builder of the 2.3 and what is the suggested RPM limit to shift at?

Please include your setup as well... so I know what kind of turbo and gasoline that is used.

Also, include what kind of racing that you do with the car... even if it is dig or roll racing on the street, autox, drag, etc.

I would GREATLY appreciate this... I am really torn between the 2.0L and 2.3L.. I really want to know how the longevity of this motor is vs a 2.0L.

Thank you

i got to hand this one to you Scorke.. Rob is the MOST indecisive person i have ever met.. HE does have a rival though.. My customer Konstantinos from greece changes his turbo selection every hour of the day..

He has more personal sales ratings than I do too.. And i sell atleast 3 parts a day minimum.. haha

How many miles on your 2.3L? 12000 on the car, about 6 the motor or so

What is the highest RPM that the motor sees and how frequently does it see this RPM? 8500, barely seen it

If you have results on the same setup that you currently have with a 2.0 vs 2.3... that would be great .. to see the difference in spool and power band..I had a evo 8 stock block 35r, now a 2.3 37r..feels about the same with lag.

Who is the builder of the 2.3 and what is the suggested RPM limit to shift at? Pruven and the motor is on it's way out

On a 2.3 above 8000rpm you are pushing it.

This is how I look at it, get a 2.0 or fork out cash for a AMS 2.3rr and I think DTM makes a high revving 2.3 too. Why? You are going to need more revs to take full advantage of your powerband if you go with anything bigger than an FP Red.

You're going to feel bad when your power doesn't drop off until 9k+ and you are shifting at 8k.

Don't mean to go OT, but why was it "garbage"? Something to do with HTA+TS?
To summarize a small portion of the stickeyed white paper on strokers vs. non:
The internal harmonics of a 2.3 are less desireable than that of a 2.0, and a 2.1 is more desireable still in that regard.
It really comes down to how you are going to drive the car and what turbo you want to run.

I believe it was proven that the HTA and TS DO NOT work very well with eachother as opposed to a regular T3 TS housing or a T4 TS housing... Has nothing to do with ETS, they made an outstanding quality kit, just a miss-matched setup.
