Coolant Temps some what disturbing?

I recently attended my first road course event. My car at this event did get fairly warm but didnt ever overheat. As i would run 3-4 hot laps i would have to run a cool down lap. After this event my car now after starting it from cold the temp gets fairly high then suddenly drops off to the normal position. My first guess is that i have a malfuctioning themo-stat. Any suggestions idea's? Also what could i do to improve my cooling for a roadcourse? I assume an aluminum radiator and possibly a cooler thremo-stat?

When is the last time you changed your coolant? Have you made any changes to your car?

Sounds like it needs a flush, possible bubble in the system.

perhaps ill try to flush and refil with water then if the problem is solved drain some out and refil with coolant.... Is it fairly normal for these cars to heat in a road course event? like i say this was my first one so....
