Turbo Suggestions for EVO IX
FP RED ALL THE WAY! Mine is sitting in my room waiting to be installed this week or 1st week of Nov. wooo ! Thanks again to Rob, Aniel and Bryan. PS I have a 9 turbo, Megan O2 housing, and PPI ported manifold for sale once Red goes in.
OP, you need to be clear on what you intended use is. Asking EvoM in general is not going to help you until then, because some members will tell you to get what THEY want, but what if that's not what YOU want? A 500whp race gas drag turbo is going to be different than a 370whp pump gas autocross turbo.

our turbo is 47-48 lbs min.....
you have a couple of good options now for stock housing turbos.... if your goal is to run over 30psi... use the red.... pump gas... 20-29psi range is where ours works best....
We designed this turbo with the street/road racer in mind... we arent a drag racing company.... our turbo was built for power delivery, response.....

how much will it be to convert IX turbo into your turbo?
Now I am looking at the CBRD's turbo, b/c I am not planning to run meth.
For autocross, the Green seems to be the best option. It's big enough to make good power, but not so big that it loses responsiveness. And its got a record of success on Mark Daddio's evo as well as EVOlutionary's.
The Red is the obvious choice for road course use IMO. Good power on pump, better power on race gas, and not at all laggy in the RPM range that you use on the track (4000+). It also builds boost early at part throttle just like the stocker.
Just my $.02.

Sounds like you are speaking from experience, you must have one of these one your car now I take it. Glad to hear that you are enjoying it!
Yup. I have a Red now. It really is a "have your cake and eat it too turbo." Those who characterize it as only a drag turbo or only a race gas turbo obviously are not speaking from experience. I've been in cars with 50 trim to 35R "kits" and experienced that "wait for it...wait...wait...NOW" feeling and the Red isn't like that at all. The tightest road course I've ever run is the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point and, speaking from experience (I won the Redline Time Attack Street Class there this year against Robi, etc.), the Red would have easily shaved significant time off my laps. I'm making more power on pump than I made with meth on my white rabbit. IMO, the only reason to go smaller than a red is for autocross or if you like your Evo to be responsive in the 2000-3000 range, in which case you're probably better suited to a larger displacement platform anyhow.
