Kyle, get off my case buddy. It's wishful thinking that I can build up enough total pressure to blow off the Intake pipe. Actually, I HATE worm gear clamps. I think of the intake as a plenum to the turbo. If I can pack it without turbulence and keep as much pressure on the wheel, then that's what I want. I was being facetious when I said Bigger is better. Only to a point. As you know, velocity has it's place.

This kid I know just dyno'd his MR2. It has a 4" intake pipe on it that feeds over into the rear fender inlet to source cool air.

With the tube, it made 390 WHP. Pulling the intake off the car it lost 10 WHP on the dyno. Likely because of the turbo sucking in hot air off the exhaust manifold and turbine housing. Add the heat from a radiator in a front engine car and it's likely to have an even bigger impact.

It's not just the amount of air that counts, it's the quality too.

I am pretty sure that if we swap out the HID headlights for regular ones, we can get a 4" intake tube around the back side of the headlight.

It would probably make less power. Air likes to be "directed" into the turbo inlet. Not sure if I explained that just right, but I hope you get the picture.

Funny thing is, I've been telling guys about the larger intake for years but always used the 'butt dyno'. Thanks for sharing your data with the community!!!

What is the purpose of an intercooler again?

Inlet temps always effect outlet temps, an intercooler isnt 100% effecient.

Just have Eric J. copy the setup he put on my car. I've got a 4" filter and intake pipe going into my 50 trim... Of course, I have an '03, and I've long since gotten rid of the IC spray tank, which is what made it possible to fit the intake behind the driver's side headlight...
