Will Evo IX 6 speed trans. fit in Evo VIII?

I'm posting this question for a friend. He's got 2004 Evo VIII with 5 speed which is blown. He found cheap 6 speed out of Evo IX. Will it fit? Thanks.

First of all thats really stupid to do because the 6 speed transmission is alot weaker then the 5 speed. Plus it wont be a direct swap, you will need a conversion kit which would probably run roughly around 400 dollars. Just tell your friend to take his 5 speed out and send it to shepard racing to get it built.

yes it fits. you will need the trans mount, wire harness (clip for reverse is different so it will need to be spliced in) and shifter cable assembly.

It fits. Shifter, Shifter cables, trans, and console. speed sensor should be the same. If you race your car on the track a lot, the 6 speed might not be for you. Quite a few threads on its durability. For a mildly modded, DD evo, its not bad. Theres a conversion kit for the swap, WickedIXMR?
