Boost cut/ Fuel Cut??

Forgive me ahead of time for any ignorance. This is my first turbo car so still learning. I just bought a AEM SRI ( first mod, well that I know of, car was used till 18K) Anyways I just installed the MAF adaptor and the AEM filter due to the fact my car goes in the shop for a unrelated warranty issue next week, I didnt want to install the enitre intake pipe only to pull it off again. It fit factory intake pipe fine and tightened everything down. Today was the first day I really got on it and it seems from WOT utill around 6K rpm it feels fine then the turbo cuts out and then back in. Any ideas??

Thanks ahead for any thoughts idea!

Totoally understandable and actually planned on this after exhaust is installed. Could someone please explain why this happens. Is this affecting a/f ratio?

correct me if i'm wrong but the cone filter allows to much air in. causing it to be able to boost more than its supposed to. the ecu recongizes it and shuts the fuel pump off. my car did the same thing until i through the stock air box back on. thats my assumption. theres probably more technical ways to put it into context but thats the easiest way i could explain it

Yep more air is coming through the motor so this puts the engine load up further. The stock computer sees this as an over boost condition and initiates the protection mode.
