HG swap questions: block clean? CAS orientation?

Question #1: How clean does the surface of the block need to be? Am I close? There are a few spots that do still need some work, but the spots that still look like they have a bit of gasket material left on them are super smooth, can't even catch an edge with my fingernail.

Comments welcome please!

Question #2: what is the proper orientation of the cas? The cam pin is straight up, does the small side need to be up or down?

Thanks in advance!

Remove all residue, then check for straightness. A good finish is RA50 for a new HG.
RA 50 is a measurement of texture that is good for sealing.

I'm thinking of getting some 90* spinny 3M pads to finish the cleaning. I'm just out of juice with the finger scrubbing at this point.

Also, found on evomoto:

Torque the trigger bolt to 16 ft-lbs while holding the cam with a wrench.

When installed properly and with everything in time (we're not at there yet in this install), the larger trigger vane should point down/right at about a 45° angle as shown in the picture. You may wish to leave the CAS cover off until the cam install is completed to verify its position when everything is set in time, as we have done for this picture.

Call Jackson auto machine, ask what grit they use on the deck, as well as the method the use
