FP Green VS stock 9 turbo. Looking for feedback
Well I've been hearing that the gains of the Green are not much more then you will get out of a stock 9 turbo. Is this true. Looking for pump to pump, race gas to race gas dyno sheets and or first hand experiences, track times ect.
use the search, theres lots and lots of reviews...the green is a evo 9 housing just stuffed with different turbine etc. imo my buddy has an fp green and another has an evo 9. and the green spools quicker and pulls harder. i am doing a green over the winter
The larger internals of a Green will spool faster than a stock IX?
not from what i understand. i know that the fp Green spools quicker than a normal 20g. they both spool slightly slower than the 9 turbo. but i guess thats all depends on how its being used and with what it's being used with.

i am currently on the stock jdm 9 mr turbo and have a green lying around. i've been reluctant to switch up because i do not want to lose the instantaneous spool that i have now.. am i worrying over nothing?
i know the green is more powerful but my friends running the green have trouble keeping up through the first 4 gears due to the higher 'lag' over my stocker.

imo the green isn't worth it, its basically a newer version of the old 20g, now that the red is out there are PLENTY of greens for sale as they have been far surpassed since its debut.
I have an Evo IX Turbo on my set-up, and it is really fun to drive. Although I did increase the compression ratio to 9.7:1, it does make a really fun car to drive with all the right supporting mods. I have mine running at 28.5psi spike, and falling to 23/24psi, and running on E85.
Its a fantastic turbo with all the right supporting mods, but you will eventually hit a brick wall with it, as I am right now. I simply cannot get the car any faster, and I don't have anything stock anymore, anything at all. It all just depends on what you are looking for, and what you want to use your car for. Mine for example is a serious blast to drive back and forth to work, seriously quick on light/part throttle, rediculously fast response (Mostly from the 9.7:1 CR), and just overall a really really fast responding setup. I am going to go for more in spring though, mostly because there are a few fast cars popping up here and there in Charleston, and I want to "Stay Ahead" of them...

the green and our BBK are both flowing about 10 lbs/min more than a stock evo ix turbo...
we see quicker spool up and better transient response with our billet compressor.... its a great combo..
i love the stock ix turbo, its a great turbo... i dont however like the old school 20G evo 8 turbos...

This might help a little.
1st Graph EvoVIII w/FP-Green vs EvoIX w/Stock Turbo
Run1:
EvoIX w/ Stock Turbo
Stock Motor w/Cosworth Cams
Stock Intake Manifold
Stock ECU tuned by Pure Tuning
Stock Throttle Body
No Porting on anything
Peak Boost: 26.6psi
Fuel: 100oct
Run2
03 EvoVIII w/ FP-Green
Stock Motor w/HKS Cams
Magnus SIM wo/ Velocity Stacks
AEM EMS (no MAF) tuned by Pure Tuning
Stock Throttle Body
No Porting on anything
Peak Boost: 26.3psi
Fuel: 110oct
All the customers that have come in with the FP-Green all run higher boost levels so I don't have a great depiction of a lower boost level FP-Green.
So yes the EvoIX has variable timing, but the EvoVIII does have an AEM without the MAF and a Magnus SIM that we have shown to make more power than the stock intake manifold toward the last third of the powerband. The EvoVIII was also running 4psi more by redline than the EvoIX. I don't think there will be any arguments here.
I also want to add that the FP-Green will never spool faster or the same as a MHI-Evo9 or 8-Turbo! Not sure where someone got that info from?

You can see in this graph there is a substantial improvement in power from 4000-6300rpm, but because the FP-Green equipped Evo9 is running E85 it will naturally make a little more power. The fuel choice isn't all the increase but is defiantly some of it. The Fp-Green equipped Evo is also running slightly higher boost which can also contribute to some power increase.
I would say the FP-green is worth some power over the MHI-Evo9 Turbo, but not enough to justify its expense.
I would say the next turbo upgrade past a Evo9 Turbo would be the FP-Red if staying with a factory based turbo, but I would jump into a twinscroll Borgwarner S200 or Garrett 30R.
