The turbo comes with a high pressure wastegate. Why run the stock one?

it depends on the boost you want to get out of it.

Then you need to upgrade your WG. Stocker doesn't hold boost that well on the stock turbo. I think FP has a descent range of WG's to choose from...just give them a call.

I will today. also my stock turbo hits 27 lbs right now and drops to 24 lbs close to redline. I am running e85 and meth on my stock turbo. I am just wanting to put the turbo on really bad and not wanting to have to do it twice incase the stock wastegate doesn't hold 27 lbs on the red for some reason.

bump.

I'm currently running a FP red with a stock wastegate. Could this be causing a boost leak (i.e. the wg isn't strong enough)??

I'm hitting 33psi but not making proper power so does this sound like the case?

To swap WGA's you do not need to R&R the turbo. WGA's can be removed and/or installed with the turbo mounted and a stock thickness radiator in place.

It's justa PITA

Be careful of knicking your rad when you do, but I've done that a few times now.

I have a stock WGA from a 2006 Evo IX MR and a FP 18 psi WGA if you're looking for one.

Thanks,

Jay

What does your boost curve look like? i.e. how much boost are you holding at 6500rpms or so with a 33psi spike?

I'd try ecu-controlled boost before an uprated WGA.

My FP Red was shipped without a wastegate actuator for some reason so I ended up modifying my stock 8 one to fit. The most I could get out of it with just pulling the line off was 33 dropping to 30 by 7800 or so.

Hey, did they come with a higher rating than 18psi? Or are all the units the same and just adjustable?

It is this exact unit: http://store.forcedperformance.net/PROD/WAEVO18psi.html ? How many miles are on it? Very interested

What will an FP 18 psi wastegate hold up to?
