Here's a 1-4th gear run of mine with a mbc + cams. Before cams I was holding 26psi at redline.

Good info guys thanks for the help. Guess I'm not gonna get much more than 22 psi in 1st gear. Hopefully a new exhaust mani will help get more boost out of 1st.

Can we see some logs of a 1,2,3,4 run? I hope we know that the boost will not be the same in the upper gears due to load right?
Any idea on how long the lines should be? I might have to go back and cut them a bit...

There is no rule of thumb with the length. But if it looks long and has extra slack then you gotta cut.

Also try and keep the tubing(ID) as small as possible. It should be a nice tight/snug fit over the nipple of the profec B solenoid. Go with a 4mm hose vs the suggested 6mm. If the 4mm seems impossible, try harder lol. Also if you got girly fingers go with the 5mm hose.

Pressure test: Make sure you boost leak test your setup. Wastegate hoses and nipple areas tend to leak with over tightening of hose/worm clamps.

Update,

I basically opened the wastegate completely and was able to get 23 psi in first and 27 psi in second. Basically set the EBC SET to 100% and Zero'd out everything else except the Limiter

are you trying to get maximum boost out of the turbo or something?

That is a lot of forum hating from someone who didn't even start this thread...whatever relax man, it's almost Thanksgiving! And yes it is about tuning...tuning the Profec.

Ok, your getting lower boost than wastegate? How's that? Either your gauge is off, or the lines are backwards. Try adjust boost settings to see if you get an increase. If no increase in boost, then reverse the lines from WGA, to Boost pressure source. There is a thread here where someone posted up tuning techniques for the profec.

I'm having some fun trying to figure my profec out, wondering if anyone can chime in here.

Basically having a problem with finding the right Set Gain value (aka Start Boost) to use.

I'm finding that depending on the Set Gain (Start Boost) setting I use I either end up with a spike to 1.9 bar or else a hesitation at 0.9 bar. Basically looking for the sweet spot in between, or maybe I'm doing something really wrong here.

I've fiddled a bit and found that if I set the SET GAIN (Start Boost) too high (above 0.14 bar it seems) I'm always getting a spike to 1.9 bar (no matter what value the SET value is at), but if I set the SET GAIN (STart Boost) too low (below 0.14 it seems) I get a weird hesitation in the boost at 0.9 bar.

During WOT from low RPMs (i.e. when datalogging) the car spools totally fine but under part throttle accleration (in normal driving) I find that if I get on the throttle hard from mid rpms the car boosts, pauses at 0.9 for a split second, then the boost shoots up to wherever I set it. After the boost peaks though it and holds wherever I set it with the SET value.

I found that I can get around the hesitation somewhat by raising the SET GAIN (Start Boost) value but then I end up with that nasty spike to 1.9 bar, after which the boost returns to the set level and holds.

The hesitation/spiking is kind of annoying anyways from a driveability standpoint (potentially dangerous actually if the boost kicks in suddenly while I'm exiting a corner, say)..so wondering if anyone's ran into either the spiking or hesitation issues so far?

My settings:

Low boost (I get around 1.5 bar with this setting - hesitation at 0.9 bar but no spike):
Set 70
Gain 5
Set Gain 0.14
Warning 1.65 (bar)
Limiter 4%

High boost (with this setup I get a spike to 1.9 bar, which holds well after the initial spool/spike, no hesitation but the spike is annoying):
Set 90
Gain 5
Set Gain 1.80
Warning 1.99
Limiter 4%

SOrry if I'm talking in circles, my head's going in corcles right now trying to understand how this things works. Profec guru needed!

Your "Start Boost" should be higher than 0; it should be just at wastegate pressure.

"Start Boost" is basically when the Greddy starts taking control of boost.

Setting the "Start Boost" below wastegate pressure doesn't do anything except maybe increase your lag.

BTW, there's a decent thread in the "How to" section for setting the Greddy:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...b-spec-ii.html

I have the Greddy and it's OK, but I'll be replacing it with a BR Dual Stage MBC come Spring.

Good luck.

Thanks,

I'm continually fiddling with the thing. The Greddy EBC worked fine on my stock turbo and injectors but since I upgraded the turbo (CBRD BBK) and injectors (HKS 680s) I haven't been able to get the EBC recalibrated properly - it's spiking all over the place and/or hesitating at 0.9 bar etc..

Will give a shot at setting the Start Boost lower, am also going to go into the engine bay anc check whether the NC cap on my Greddy boost solenoid is capped or not - I understand that it's supposed to be uncapped?

Thanks for the tips!

Btw about the boost solenoid, where'd u mount it? Did u replace the stock one with it or mounted it elsewhere? Did u take out the stock solenoid also or left it as it is?
