EVO IX SE - All 3 traction lights stuck on after driving? Something wrong?
Hello, I'm fairly new to Evo's in general and I've been looking at a couple I've been wanting to purchase.
Right now I am looking at a 2006 Evo IX Special Edition, it has a few bolt ons and a turbo timer, etc. It feels about 300-315awhp - but there is one thing in particular that I'm concerned with and maybe someone here can help me out.
When I start up the car everything appears normal. I am able to press the traction control button (to select tarmack, snow, or gravel) and it goes through the 3 just fine. However, once I begin driving... I'll give it some boost and open it up a bit, suddenly all 3 traction lights are on simultaneously. They will stay that way until the car is shut off and started again. After driving a bit again, they will come right back on.
I am not sure if this has happened in the past or not, but if it is an electrical or ECU issue, I would surely like to get it corrected before making a purchase decision.
Thanks in Advance,
Darren

Has the car had a clutch install?? Sounds like someone didnt bleed the ACD correctly. Easy fix and should be of little concern. I would use it as a barganing point. Look at the ACD resivior in the front left corner of the engine bay and check the level, chances are its off.
Funny you mentioned that, I remember a little white bottle with fluid below level but I didn't bother to check what it was at the time.
He just resealed the differential - at least that is what he mentioned.
Not sure on the clutch though, but for the amount of power its putting down, it feels well over a stock evo and it grabs without any problems.
We opened it up to the top of 4th and it pulled well all the way through.
Oh - thanks for the response. Hopefully that's it.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Resealed the diff??? Thats an odd thing to do unless work had been done to the differential. I have done many clutch jobs on evos and have never came across a leaky center diff. At any rate I would question exactly what work was done to the car. Your not just gonna get a leaky diff like that unless it had been pulled apart for something.
The point I'm making now is..it could be something as simple as needing to be blead. The low fluid would be a good indication of that. I would be a little concerned however of the "resealed diff statement". A bad center diff usually makes some crazy noises though so Im betting it just needs blead out.

He said he did it as a precaution as he 'heard' they tend to start to leak. Like I said - I don't know much about them (yet) hence my post.
I'll give you some background on the car....
2006 TB Evo IX SE
24k Miles
Megan Racing Headers
TBE
Drop in Air Filter
Has a turbo timer
No boost gauge but its on the stock TD05-16g turbo
Not sure if it had a flash or not, and not sure what clutch/flywheel is in it.
The car pulls strong and runs very well - being an SE it has the BBS wheels, etc, etc.
He is asking 23,900 for it. I figure I'll throw some coilovers and strut/sways on it and be happy for a bit.

He owns a restoration shop, has about 20 cars on his lot.
He didn't restore this evo, he's into older firebirds, etc.
The evo he got from an auction - he's the 2nd owner.
Clean title.

Maybe too late...

Maybe you have it sort out and its not relevant anymore, but wanted to throw it out just in case. When the ACD it not bleed correctly for any reason, you will have this problem; however a simple fix, if he has been driving it like this for some time, quite possible the ACD pump went as well (happened to me). Cost me 2G at the dealer to get it replaced. Hope you did not have this problem and is all well. Ty for the injectors, have not install them yet, waiting to get tune on e85 sometime in the next few months.
