had a test pipe got a hfc-- toasted it solid in months which lead to a cracked exhaust mani and killed I don't even know how much hp, now back to test pipe. Get an Ultimate Racing test pipe- won't set off the CEL

well its purely a personal preference if the test pipe and another 5hp is worth the smell, noise, legal risk over a highflow cat.

my previous evo i went w/ testpipe and i didnt care. i hate test pipes now, i think im getting old hehe

5-10hp on the stock turbo maybe. BUT much, much more is lost if using a bigger turbo

I think ultimate racing has a little bung in it welded on there so you can put an o2 fix so that it wont throw your check engine light

I have the Greddy Evo2 with a test pipe. At first I just installed the exhaust, and it sounded stock to me. So I installed the test pipe and it gave it a little bit more exhaust note, but not annoying or overwhelming in the least. I really like it. As far as the power difference, I didnt notice a whole lot, but I need a tune too. You will need to do some sort of CEL fix.

I second this. Installed their 100 cell cat and put down 365whp on stock IX turbo w/ dynojet. It feels as good or better than my previous setup w/ orig tune + TP.

I can't stand the smell!!!

Nope. Just start it in the garage and let it idle a minute or two. Bigger problem was if I walked through the door in the garage to the house with the car there, idling. The smell would get in the house. But it definitely got into the car, including at stop lights.

I only noticed the smell when I was out behind the car or at a light with the windows down. I can imagine it being pretty bad in a garage though.

if you think the smell is bad when your exhaust is dumping out the rear.. then never ever run open downpipe!! haha it smells up the whole car for about a week... but never really goes away
