exhaust leak prevention question
exhaust leak prevention question
so ill be getting my new ets downpipe back and megan racing downpipe for christmas. this is my first exhaust install so i have a question. what im wondering is what should i torque everything to ensure that i will not have any leaks anywhere? im aware that you do not need to torque next to nothing on an exhaust install, i just want to make sure i wont get any leaks of any sorts
they are correct forget about that and MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE GASKETS IN CORRECTLY AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE USE
PB BLASTER(bolts might be extremely tight)
ANTISEIZE
if you need help for some reason i have a exhaust install guide on my site. Not really hard but everylittle bit helps

Well I would have suggesting getting something with V band clamps. No gaskets and no leaks, but you already ordered.
It basically depends on 2 things, the flange and the type of gasket used. If the flanges are not evenly machined then you will get an exhaust leak. My previous Megan Racing Testpipe had messed up flanges. I changed the gasket many times and tried different types, but I guess the flange was warped or just not even. (I got it used so no returns)
As for the gasket, I would recommend Percy's carbon gaskets. They are very cheap and can hold a lot of heat. A 10X10 gasket sheet is around 10-15 dollars shipped. And that one sheet is good enough to make around 4-6 gaskets. At first sight its weird because it is basically a metal sheet with some sort of carbon carpet material on it. But tests have proven they hold really good, especially for turbo cars.

Thats my 2 cents.
Good luck
