Turbo install questions

i searched but did not find one. Can anybody give me a guide whether its quick guide or long guide or tell me basically the idea. I want to or rather am going to swap my bad turbo with another 05 evo 8 turbo with 10.5 hotside and a br 02. now the turbo is already put together i just have to swap the 02s out once it gets here. I want to take mine out and put this one in its place. I heard and read everybody says direct swap. Is this pretty straight forward as in im removing lines unbolting from mainfold swap unit replug all back in and bolt back up. do i need to close off or tie off the coolant lines oil lines. if so can somebody tell me which is which. Should i drain the radaitor before i do this? I am gonna switch over to the Fp red once it comes in but until then i want boost lol. i also love to do all my install myself that way i know its right and no loose or missing bolts?? I have not seen any guides like this and will be happy to make one as im doing mine just want some direction.

I'd just get the little plastic crimpe things for rad hoses and try to pinch off the coolant hoses so you don't loose any. After the install just re-bleed the coolant system and you should be good.

it is pretty straight forward. Draining your oil is a must since you are taking the entire unit out. I would also remove the radiator since it gives you a lot more room to work with and will save you some time. PB blast every bolt before doing anything.

You are going to dent up your radiator if you try to do this with it in. It also causes less room and delays the install time. To me clamping hoses is just another way to half *** an install. Oil lines are a given that they have to come off and a fresh oil change is always a good thing.

by lines i mean on the turbo itself not the rad lines. oil coolant lines running to turbo can i just clamp those. I changed my radaitor to a misto like 3 weeks ago. I can take out the radaitor if i have to no problem. what about the torque of all the bolts. Manny bolts and Spring bolts etc. is it really important???? or do i just tighten??? not like over tighten but nice and snugg??

If it's an 03 you might as well drain the coolant as it probably needs changed anyway.

lol evo8emup as i stated in earlier post i change my radaitor and hoses 3 weeks ago. if i take that out again and drain my oil. from what i been sent in pms turbo should come out with not problems. many this sounds like its gonna take some serious time. whole exhaust has to come off dp then come from top take manny off then finally unbold turbo. Reverse lol. if i decided to just get a evo 9 turbo for now and get the install kit what does that consist of just new jpipe and different connections to put on turbo????

When changing turbo I always drain and remove the rad. I drain coolant into clean pan and reuse.

Maybe I'm being ****, but, any time I install different turbo, I replace the filter, drain the crankcase, and replace the engine oil.....Duh!

EDIT: Oh yeah, prime the oil feed to turbo before firing it up, so that turbo bearings don't spin dry.

Put a pan under the feed line, and crank the car until oil comes out. Or I believe you can pull the plug wires and crank the car with the turbo hooked up for a few seconds. It's been awhile since I installed a new turbo, so I forget

Yeah, you can disconnect the plugwires and crank the ignition until the oil pressure light in the dash shuts off.

Yep, just disconnect the two plugs from the coil-packs and crank away
