Weird Noise!
today i drained and refilled my coolant and thought i would go for a drive.
when i started the engine i heard a weird noise coming from the left of the engine (belt and pulley region).
its a tapping/clicking sound that is somewhat loud. i tried looking at all angles to see if there was any touching of the belts with stationary parts - nothing!
two friends looked at the car and said it maybe coming from the crankshaft pulley. they suggested the crankshaft pulley dampner (rubber) must be damaged??
BTW, i have a 06 JDM Evo IX. my car is bone stock and has not been driven in 8 months and i have only 12,000 KMs on the car!

Thanks in advance!

Did you spill coolant on the belts? Because that will sure make some noise until it all wears off.
as though something was touching?!
another guy thinks i got water somewhere in one of those bearings lol
Some IX's have had problems with the timing belt rubbing a crank sensor.
its a kind of ticking sound (not injectors or lifters) like a clock and it is very periodic (probably twice ever 5 seconds) and does not increase speed with revs!
