Do Evo's have issues with crank walk ?

Just like the title says. Do Evo's have issues with crank walk ? I havent seen anyone post anything of the sort. Do people when they build there motors do anything to prevent this ? Just curious if anyone has anything on that.

any motor has the ability to crankwalk. due to the good bearings in the evo 4g63 you wont see it as much and in the 2nd gens. but yes its still possible.

Technically any engine can crankwalk. But the problematic engines were fixed late in the second generation 4g63 run that was issued here in the states. I personally havent seen a new reverse head 4g63 crankwalk if thats what your asking

Is there any way to minimize crankwalk? I heard it is worse in a stroker?

i hear that srtonger bearings in the lower end for the crank will help from crankwalking. im not def on that cause i havent been in that position yet but would understand that it might help.

Umm no offense, But do you know what crankwalk is??? "Crankwalk" happens when the crankshaft starts moving around its housing. This causes the crankshaft to, at some point or another, wear into the thrust bearing heavily.

what causes it? DSM plant went with off the shelf designs and engineering when producing the 2G engines in particular. Sometimes, the crankshaft themselves weren't built correctly to standard specs. On other engines, the bearings weren't the correct ones. It strongly varies. Since the crankshaft is a bit loose (only a bit, but such a thing shouldn't even be a little bit loose), it will eventually start moving around and causing play.

I completely blame the "Crankwalk epidemic" On poor mitsu quality controll

"Stronger" Bearings won't help you here! An engine crankwalks with improper clearances, incorrect assembly, wrong parts completely

ive replaced other motors that wherent of mitsu that had crankwalked on customers. its possible for any motor to walk.

To tell you the truth I only knew the part about where it moves around. Other than that I didn't know anything else. I just heard it from other DSM owners in my area and wantedt someone to elaborate on it. Thanks for the insight though!

I didn't mean any disrespect from my comment either. I was just reinforcing that we were all on the same page. I re read my comment and it seemed a little "smartass" Not intended!
