HELP PLZZ!!! evo in need of help

ok guys i have a very big problem, i own a 2003 evo 8, and a couple of mths ago i had to change out the spark plugs well i change the spark plugs i used the ngk bpr7es, well the evo was running fine then one day i was driving down the street and all i heard was a big pop and my car shut off well i pop the hood and one of the spark plugs and shot out of the engine it broke my spark plug cover in half well i was stranded so i got a new spark plug that i had in the trunk and put it bak into the engine so i can get home well now my car is running like crap and i think wat happened was when the first plug shot out it stripped the threads and my question is, do the spark plugs screw into jus the valve cover or do they screw all the way down to the cylinder head?, because i dont kno wat to replace either jus the stipped vaalve cover or get the cylinder head retapped so plz if any one can help id really appreciate it

Yes, they go past the valve cover. They are not threaded into the valve cover. I've never heard of a spark plug shooting out of a motor before...crazy.

How did you get the new sparkplug in the head if its all stripped? Just twist away?

Did you gap the spark plugs correctly? The sparkplug shooting out is not usual. Maybe that one wasnt screwed in all the way and it popped off.

Thats what I think, there's no way the plug backed itself out...

Sounds like a pre-ignition event. You've probably got more serious problems then a stripped sparkplug. Pretty serious cylinder pressure to pop a sparkplug out of the head.
