Cams/MIVEC
Cams/MIVEC
Ok so I have a lot of questions. One is when a cam for a IX says that it has a 272 duration does that mean that it is the longer cam profile? Or is it the normal cam profile??
When we adjust Mivec for the intake side we are going up to 28.8 that is crankshaft degrees right? Meaning that it is open 28.8 degrees before the piston reaches tdc and begins the intake stroke right? When you adjust on the exhaust side since you retard it what does it adjust? Like when do the valves open? Is it opening say 28.8 degrees before the piston reaches BDC on the downstroke right before the exhaust stroke?
Mivec can control lift right?? I know that it doesn't control lift on the Evo but does it control lift on the other cars that mitsu has? Why wont they put that on the evo I mean its like their flagship model and they dont put a full mivec on it. With the lift on the Mivec and the Vtec like valve timing does the higher cam profile have a different lift and duration? If we could adjust lift how would we adjust it? What would it change would it hit a higher lift or hit it earlier?
I didn't think that these question fit anywhere else so I came to the advanced thread. Thanks in advance for all the help.
