Incidentally, what did you have the sparkplug gap set at when you were getting this blowout on Meth?

They don't come uniformly gapped. So, don't just toss them in right out of the box. On pump gas and moderate boost levels(19-24#), I would try .024-.026 on the BR8ES's. But, on pumpgas I would only use this cold of a plug if the car sees mostly highspeed highway driving, with very limited idling and little stop and go driving. This is plug is fairly cold for a street plug on pumpgas, especially if the car is going to see a lot of stop and go driving. It may tend to load up. It is however, the preferred plug for Meth addicts with a tight gap for Meth.

The BPR8ES is a half step hotter than the BR8ES and may be a better choice for daily driving on pumpgas and moderate boost. I however would pick the BR7ES for street driving on pumpgas and moderate boost levels( up to 24PSI). The BR7ES is a half step colder than the stock heatrange and can be gapped a bit wider for pumpgas, than the BR8ES(Try .026-.028), depending on the type of driving that you do.

I'm running 22psi on 91 pump, and the plug that has performed the best for me is the BR7ES. On 22 and pump, you don't really need the 8 plugs. The non protruding plug runs smoother and stronger I've noticed than the regular BPR7ES.

I've also ran the NGK stocks, and Desno IW22s, and I prefer the BR7ES over them.

I have mine gapped at .024, using a feeler gauge. The circular plug gapping tool they sell at the auto store for .99 is garbage.

Question for everybody,

I'm running BPR7ES's in my IX, but when I go on roadraceengineering's website, they say "only for evo 8." Anyone know why that is? Should I run out and buy something else before my engine blows up?

Yeah you should. It's not gonna blow up, but 8 plugs don't fit right in a 9.

EVO 8 plugs are different in length than EVO 9 plugs

BPR8ES NGK Copper plugs are amazing!!!

OK, I've reading all about which plugs to use and I am so happy for this forum!!! I added a few mods recently to the mods I already had and I noticed more power, but it was misfiring and knocking at WOT, so I avoided WOT. I just hit 60K (bought it with 30K) and decided to change the spark plugs. I'm so glad I did!!!
The idle is so much smoother and acceleration is amazing and I definitely gained power. I thought it was because I am now using the BPR8ES, but now I'm wondering if it is because my old NGK Iridium plugs were gapped at .040". I guess over time it widens. Anyhow, I'm just so much happier with my car!!!
