Headwork

Got a few questions for guys who have gotten their heads done.

Im looking to get these following items installed:

Cams
Valves (retainers/seats/seals)
Headgasket
Headstuds
Cam Gears

Im just looking for basic labor, not really interested in any porting as of right now. I was quoted around $2000 for just labor at a local shop, keep in mind I have all these parts I just need the work done. Does this sound steep? Can I get some input from the guys who have had their heads built. Any suggestions for shops in the tri-state area (max 100 miles away from Central NJ).

Definitely sounds steep. I would expect to be in the $1200-1400 range. Especially if they are just swapping parts and not doing any work to the head.

I was hoping the install would be closer to $1000.

Brunch Bump, need to figure out what to do.

Headgames is close to you, I would say you could get them to do that stuff for less than 2k.

It would be much less then 2k for installing the parts in the head...but we do not offer installs on the car

You want us working on your cylinder head...you certainly don't want us working on your car!lol. I pay for that stuff too.

LOL wasnt even paying attention to what he said. **** bring your car to me ill do it after you get the valves installed. I would think that your gas cost for the drive and giving me couple dollars to do the work will still be way less then 2k.

I had my head done Leon, the owner of Headmaster in your neck of the woods. http://www.headmasterinc.com/

He did, presure test, oversized valves, deck, port, light polish, guides, seals, clean, springs and cams installed, presure tested again for $625.

Real good guy.. hope this helps
