My buddy was driving the evo and he said he heard some loud grinding noises while cruising in 5th gear so he pulled over immediately. The car is stick in 5th gear and won't move out of 5th even if you apply a lot of force.
I *think* all four wheels were locked as the car had to be pulled/dragged onto the tow truck. I had to unbolt the driveshaft from the rear differential in order to get the car off the flatbed. Once the driveshaft was unbolted, it seemed like the car rolled off the flatbed pretty easily.
My question is weather or not I should expect the transfer case to be effe'd up as well as the tranny. I know the transfer case can't cause the shifter to be stuck in a gear but the fact that the car rolled without the driveshaft connected to the rear differential would leave me to believe it's the transfer case as well.
I'm planning on removing the transfer case along with the tranny in the next couple of days, but I was just curious as to weather or not the transfer case could be a potential problem.
