At what stage is it best to buy injectors?

Hey, I'm building my car like the mod stages similar to the ones listed on AMS's and Buschur website. Look at sig for my mods. Next, I will be doing either cams or intercooler. I want to buy 1200-1000cc injectors but don't know when would be to early to put them in? Can I just scale them way down until I put an FP RED in? Don't tell me those are two big for the stock ecu biggest that has been proving wrong many, many times. Thank you.

When is debateable. Buying big injectors gives you room to grow and run different fuel.

i think if you scale em properly and dial em real tight youll just have really low duty cycles. So far all ive witnessed is when you scale em lower they just dump fuel like crazy. I plan to get 1600s off the bat. Maybe not install em until i max the car stock. In the meantime collect everything then do one big install. Prolly minus the heavy 2 man work.

OP, you need injectors when you stockers are consistantly over 110% IDC (this will happen at WOT, higher RPM).

Don't buy 1600's unless you plan on running strictly E85.

I have a set of FIC 1050's in my car. It starts, drives, boosts like stock. Except on pump gas my peak IDC is about 55% on a stock IX turbo. When you put in a bigger turbo, IDC's will rise, and you'll have to adjust fueling a bit but otherwise your MAF will see increased airflow and compensate with more fuel. No need to 'scale them down' as you say.

You will make alot more power with the cams. Don't forget about upgraded fuel system, especially if you plan to run E85 all the time.

injectors are a quick and easy install. use them when you max out the stockers. trust me drivability is not the same with larger injectors even though you seem to think twice as big on a stock ECU is fine and it may be; but unless you have a good competent tuner and a need to buy parts you don't yet require then just wait until they get close to maxed out. for what it's worth I only run 880s and my mods are in the sig.

So just go with 1000 or 1200 when the stock ones run out? When will this happen after cams probably?

John,

I would wait to do cams until you really need them.

Very simple, when IDC reaches 90% and it's no richer than about 11.0 AFR.
