Bov?

Ive read the bov comparison thread, but it seems those were for slightly modded-modded cars. I was wondering whats the best option for a completely stock car?

What kind of car do you have? If it is an Evo 8 with a black plastic one then upgrading to the 9 aluminum one would be best I think. Holds boost well and is only a 100 bucks.

Why do you want to change it? If you have the plasic one like he said /\ then you might want to change it, but otherwise there would be no point for a stock car. If you want to hear it, you need open element intake.

If its at stock boost levels, spend your money on other mods first.
If you really need a good upgrade get the metal OEM one.
I have a used APS adjustable one ready for my build up in the spring.

For a totally stock '03 VIII running factory boost levels, your present plastic one should be fine. Like someone else said, spend your money elsewhere.

^+1 If you arent cranking up the boost then there is no sense in wasting your money on a new bov. Oh I almost forgot...the best bov for a completly stock car would be the one that came from the factory...duh or else it wouldnt be completly stock

You should be good for now. The purpose of upgrading to a different BOV is to hold boost higher than the stock level. I believe (although probably wrong) that the stocker (evo 8) only holds to 22psi or so. So if you've added some mods and you're adjusted your boost to 22-23psi level it might be a good idea to switch out that plastic stocker for something a bit more rigid.

I think that the plastic ones are fairly consistent up to about 23-24#. At least mine held better than the factory metal one that I swapped it out for. I liked the way it(plastic) held up to about a 23 PSI. The metal one seemed to start to open earlier until I crushed it. This is just my experience. Other people like the metal ones better for boost levels higher than 24#.
