I really don't even want to swap a lancer anymore. Now I want to swap either a 95 or 97 Mirage into a EVo

I've been considering trading my 04 with 72k miles on it for an 01 Mirage with 58k miles on it in excellent shape. If I can fix the bumper on the car in the next few weeks, I may see if he'll take an even trade on it.

This one is going to be the old lady's car for awhile. She can't drive stick, and after the small accident with her lancer, we are hoping to patch it up and trade it in, pending on my taxes. I figure I can pay it off and get a new bumper cover, we'll do it. The car has been on their lot for about 3 to 4 months I've noticed, possibly longer. He lowered the price online to 4k, now its back up to 5k, so I know he'll take lower. I figure my trade in is worth around 4700. If he won't trade, well, we took a nice 2 hour trip.

True. I'm considering doing it. I've got one option, take all my tax money, pay off the 04, fix bumper and trade it in. That means no upgrades to the 03, no starting a small business like I want to making reproduction accessories. I just don't know what I want to do at this point. I really only want to do this because the mirage is in such great shape and its very hard to find another like it. At least in this area.

Look, if you're going to even attempt this make sure you get the right engine. Depending on the years Mitsubishi's engines sit on opposite sides of the engine bay.

DSM's, and I mean as far as the club definition of DSM's, and Evolutions I-III all have engines that sit on the right side, transmission on left. IF you are going to build up a 4G Mirage into an Miralution or whatever, you can source one of those motors.

Evo's IV-IX, Lancers, 5G Mirages, 99+ Galants, 00+ Eclipses have engines that sit on the left and trans on the right. IF you are going to build a 5G Mirage or Lancer get a Evo IV-IX engine.

well I know that if I want a evo1-3 to get a 1g dsm 4g63t motor. but if I want the evo 4-9 I'd have to get the 2g dsm motor. I just don't know what I want. a 95 Mirage evo 3or a 97 mirage evo 5

But that's wrong. 2G motors sit on the same side as 1G motors as Evo I-III. You can't put one in a 5G Mirage or Lancer or other late model Mitsu without rediculous fabrication. Its been done, but its not practical at all.

'95 Mirage can use DSM motor.

'97 Mirage has to use imported Evo IV-VII motor or salvaged Evo VIII-IX motor.

Also, if you want a lighter weight evo, convert one of the 2 door coupes. That should shave off about 100 to 200 pounds. After the swap and suspension upgrades, it should handle just like an evo. If you re enforce with extra welds like the evo does.
