Pull your back seat out and see if you hear the fuel pump whining. Do you have any mods?

Do it while you have the ignition on. You should hear the pump prime before the starter cranks.

^^^ Waste of time!!! It doesn't turn over it, so it has nothing to do with a fuel pump. Sounds like the starter is jamming up. When you try to start it and it clicks, put it in 1st gear and rock thee car hard back and forth a couple times. If it starts then you have a starter gear/flywheel issue.

But I do agree it could be the starter. You could also pull out the starter and have it checked free at Autozone. Checking the noise of the fuel pump is not a waste of time, just easier to pull out the back seat, listen, then pulling out the starter

maybe a bad ignition switch?. its hard to say without being there. get starter tested. make sure wire harness for starter is hooked up right.

I would try powering it directly from the battery before taking it off to see if it is a electrical problem like the ignition switch . From the positive on the starter to the positive on the battery . I have also heard of weak grounds causing this problem .

yes, i had the same ,well maybe the same problem as you. i had the starter checked . it was fine, checked all the fuses . they were fine. then i openned up the steering column. i had too wiggle my keys around sometimes to get it too start. ok heres what i did here. i noticed when i pushed on the back of the ignition switch while i turned the key, the car fired up. then i realized that when i didnt push inn on the switch while starting it was arcing inside the switch was shooting sparks. replaced it then bam the car was good for a couple weeks. then something else happened the car wouldnt start. just click click. had it towed home. found out that it was the big ground on the starter wiring harness. the one that is bolted to the bell housing on the block, it came loose. so i hooked it back up then presto. the car starts everytime. no problems for months now. so it could be a combination of things?. look hard bro and youll find your problem. check your ignition switch. do you have a lot of stuff hanging from your key chain?

the fuel pump will not stop the car from cranking, no matter how good or bad the pump is. Try to jump the starter straight from the battery if it doesnt start then, pull the starter back out and check to make sure the arm is comming out of the starter and the teeth are not all chewed up. I agree with it being a flywheel to starter issue, if not an electrical problem within the ignition

You could have a parasitic drain that could have drained your battery if after you replaced it. Try jump starting the car and see what happens.

Sounds relatively easy and if you hear the tick tick that's the starter telling you it's not getting enough power to crank.

I think this guy has it. if it works after cycling the key could be a bad switch. unplug the small wire with black clip at the end by the starter and check for voltage when someone turns the key for you
