Q about my way to more power

Hey!

My mods right now is about all "bolt ons" (signature) except I haven't touched my IC or IC pipes at all, more then tightened them cause I thought I had a leak

My car is mostly used for country roads and highway use so I am gonna get 4.11 ratio even if some thinks it is useless. Since we have almost zero highway patrols here so it happens sometimes on the highway that we go a little over the speed limit, the 50 miles we got from the big race spots to where we live.. And the traffic situation on the highway here 2-3 am on a saturday or sunday is up to 1-2 cars traveling on a 50 miles (that we pass in a reasonable speed) so atleast we are doing what we can to not endanger anyone else.. But I think that speeding near or in town is just madness, first off the roads are so poor so you completely destroy rims if you keep the speed limit on some places, and it's dangerous..

My goals is to have something with a little less spoolup (easier to drive in town), but when a "#¤%& Ferrari or Porsche pulls up on the highway I do want to be able humiliate him

So far I don't want to go over 2 litre at all, don't want to put down the money a stroker costs and I don't want to load the gearbox with the extra torque it gives. If I want torque I just get a Cummins instead

So here's my recipe:

2 litre fully built (haven't thought about brands yet, but I know that Carillo beams is a bit overkill..) Looked at AMS rebuild kits, sounds good enough and I don't have to special order everything..
AMS GT30R kit
Perhaps go with 264 (got 260 cams right now), and of course the rest of the supporting mods IC, clutch ,inj , fuelpump, BTR, fuel rail and so on..

But since that is probably about 15-20k and I feel that is a lot of money to buy everything on the same time I have a question..

So the question: Is there a way to separate the parts and get there a step at the time. Like getting the GT30R kit, and run like 15 psi with stock bottom end and bolts until the next winter so I can completely tear it down and rebuild then. Or isn't that very wise thing to do?

If it possible the best way to go if I'm not stupid enough is to run the GT30R on low boost until winter, after that rebuild the engine and run it in, still on low boost. And then replace fuel parts, getting a new intercooler and additional fuel parts and turn up the boost and power with the engine well broken in.

Currently engine (and car) has about 27500 miles on it, hasn't been tortured at all. Always heel-toe/rev match, a lot of long distance drives.
Mitsu maintainence plan until 20k miles then I've changed oil every 2500 miles, gonna change again now with only 700 miles on the oil but has been kept under the winter.

Any opinions would be great!

I might add that with my way of driving the car takes 23 mpg hand calc in town (15 & 30mph), and best I've got was 30 mpg (!) at about 56-58 mph during a 400 mile drive. Also handcalc of course.. It should be impossible but hey, I guess I have to thank my tuner! And probably the engine don't complain about being treated with respect once in a while

/Best regards, Andy

I don't know what rebuild kit your looking at but if your looking at the advanced one then the AMS stroker kit is only like $200 more.
