I understand the concept of putting the solder in the bearing races and assembling the tranny halves to check the "squish" and add in shims/spacers. However I'm just wondering how necessary is this if you're not replacing bearings or gears? Say just syncros and syncro sleeves, and in the case of the center diff.. not replacing anything.
