You have the old piston type it sounds like. Take it apart: does the piston have a small dome on the top (like a nipple) or grooves on the side?

"Chris, that's a terrible word! Nipple..."

Bom's Evo dheck the vaccum hose on the bov, if it's pinched you'll get that chirping sound.

Did you replace the hose with a longer one?..... If not then you'll want to do that. Or you could change the orientation of the bov so that the hose is on top.

I was having some serious shudder issues when accelerating in 5th from 70 to 80 at only part throttle. The shudder only occured when backing off the throttle slowely. I talked to Forge about the problem and I guess this is pretty common right now. So, I opened up the BOV and pulled out the blue spring and put in the yellow spring with 1 shim. I also then changed the orientation of the BOV so that the top of the BOV is now facing up instead off to the side. Basically this means you can now read the Forge logo on top of the BOV and the vaccum is coming out the top. I then took the car out for a test drive and although the shudder isnt completly gone, it is hardly noticeable and doesnt seem to occur all the time.

For other info I am also running full Turbo back exhaust and a Perrin Boost controller set to 19.5 psi

PDXEvo, yeah I think a lot of it has to do with boost taper and your particular car/the weather/mods/etc. Glad you found a solution. Once I get an EBC I will be able to explore this further. FWIW my stutter issue has become very small, hardly worth trying to solve but hopefully one that will work itself out with a bit of tuning.

ok, so I get stuttering while on wot from about 3k - 3.6k rpms, it is very disconcerning and I'm loosing sleep about this, it happened with the blue spring and now the yellow, I am about to put the green spring in with all of the shims, does anyone else concur with this?

Also every Evo owner I know that has a Forge has sold it or taken it off. It just does not work good for the Evo and yes all the springs and shims where used by the multiple owners. I think the owners that have recently purchased one of these will soon come to the same conclusion and take it off there car. Another note anyone who did mods and took it off noticed a performance increase without the forge. If you answer is well my stock one is leaking then buy a new one or a different brand. I just hate to see people waste money on this brand of faulty BOV.

Don't know any other way to say it, but your not correct. I'm not the only one still running the Forge without issue... or the only one over 20k on the stock clutch, or not the only one who has never had a single problem with their Evo what so ever. Be very careful what you read on the INTERNET people... kinda like pulling in a shrimp net, there is some real good stuff in there... but you got to sort through all the **** first!

Zues I am correct! Do you know everyone I do that has an Evo? I dont think so. And yes to the rest of your thread I have had no problems with my Evo or with the clutch.
Question for you is your Evo stock and which internal style piston is in your Forge Dv BOV?

Well the green spring with all 3 washers is dead on for my car but I still get that weird *** stutter when accelerating in fifth, not when letting off throttle, I'm worried, as far as searching, I did and this particular thread seemed most relevant to what I was experiencing, and lay off the coffee man, Zeus is a very good guy, just not in the business of blowing smoke up people's asses, so when he contributes to these boards he is doing so with good intentions.

...since I've not had any problems, I've not pulled the valve apart to see which piston I have. I've had the part for almost a year... about the time of the change in piston design. I'm not stating that people are not having problem, because they obviously are. I am, however, saying that there are also people having good results. Just like with the other examples of the things people seem to BlTCH about the most.

mitsuorder, if your in Austin this Tues. or Weds., or any Sunday, stop by. I'd like to take a look and see if we can't do something about your problem.
