HKS Header cracked

Hey Guys,

Just a heads up, the support bracket on my 3037 turbo sheard, leaving the turbo with no support causing my header to ever so slightly crack...

they removed the turbo and header re-fabricated the support bracket re-welded the crack with argon welding (i think) and put her back in... every once in a while pop your head in the engine bay and look to make sure the support bracket hasn't snapped off...

Here's the Kit during first installation...

Damn your quick... Sam removed it and re-welded it for me... this happened say 4 months ago...
Does Bushur have a cast mani that can simply replace the HKS mani i have on now?
if so, which one is it?

i dont know if it can replace the one you have..first you have to check how the 3037 is flanged ..then you have to keep in mind that by changing the mani the whole oriantation of the turbo is going to change thus might require some minor/major fabrications to mount all the pipes connected to the turbo (ie oil feed, lower intercooler pipe etc)

tvbf1....this is the third i have seen in dubai alone!!

Apparently in the past there was no support bracket, then they smartened up and put a support bracket... hey what do you know the sucka broke and made the header crack...

Wasn't big mind you but i caught it before it got worse... anyone shed some light on argon welding a cracked header... does it do the trick, expecially if the support bracket is back in place?

one thing that pisses me off is that I baby this car so WTF caused the bracket to snap?
Going through kalba mountains up and down might have done it though...

I think it's a top notch kit too, the problem is the damn support bracket failed otherwise i'm positive it would not have happened...

Whats up Tom! By Argon welding do you mean Tig? If so this is the gas that is used during tig welding stainless and you should have no problems... BTW how are things?

I bought an I-pod touch for the mrs on Valentines and loaded up all those songs you gave me when you came over... finally put em to good use... shoot me an email

regarding the welding,
he mentioned Argon welding TIG not MIG he said it will never crack in the same place.... hope he's right...

Well he is partially correct... it shouldn't crack there again as when metal is tig welded the metal at the weld is stronger than the surrounding metal, however if stress any stress is put there again it will still crack ie the support braket breaks again.

As for the I-pod thing... I am glad i could be of some service! Tell Lucy I says hello!

How is your evo these days? I dyno'd mine a few months back and the results are in my sig. I have a stock IX turbo to install, and my buddy is going to fabricate an externally dumped O2 housing in the next few weeks! That should put me around 375-380 hp and around 360 tq
