Who is using Kelford 272 on stock springs?

As the subject states who is using Kelford 272 with the stock springs on a Evo 8? How long have they been installed? Or how many miles on them? How much boost are you rinning with them?

I heard that the Kelford and Cosworth are the same. Is that true??? I have the Cosworth 272's on stock springs. Redline is set at 7800rpm and I'm running 23 pounds of boost. Approx 10,000 miles with this set up with no problems.

They are not the same but their specs are close. Which ones do you have the M2?

Why do it. Brian Crower or GSC beehives cost like $200 and are drop-in. Spend the money. If you want big-boy cams be a big-boy and buy the recommend valve springs.

<------- Upgraded his springs when he installed Kelford 272's.

Is not about the money. I will install them myself and I do not want to remove the head and break the OEM seal. I am not sure how easy is to install the springs with the head still on. I just don't trust any mechanic on the are to leave my car for the installation.

I did my springs with the head off. Its possible to do it with the head on, but you would have to crank the engine in order to get the piston up to keep the valve from dropping. Also keep an eye on the locks. Suckers are hard to install and like to fall off a lot lol

I just installed Kelfords 272s with Ferrera Springs and retainers

There is a how to on the forum about installing valve springs with the head on .

That should factor into your decision then. But valve springs can be changed with the head in-place. Like the above poster said, it takes a little time and you hold the valve in place with the piston.

Then I could say why the manufacturer says its OK to use the stock springs. Other option willl be to use GSC S1 instead of the Kelford 272.

Anyway the thread is about who is using Kelford on stock springs.

This quote is directly from Kevin @ Kelford ....

"You can get away with it on stock boost and stock rpm, but we don’t endorse it."

Interpret that as you may!!

My friend is running Kelford 272's with stock springs; Kelford told us its fine as long as the stock rev-limiter is maintained.

People also said that ARP headstuds could be installed without removing the head and replacing the gasket. 1 year later everyones head was leaking oil...

This.

Just change your spings. It's not expensive. Peace of mind is what it's all about.

Is that on an 8? So his stock Rev Limiter is 7606 not 8000? How long have he been running the Kelford 272? How is his idle?
