Not sure if head is built or not.

I bought my Evo last year and the only thing the guy wasn't sure of was if the spring and retainers had been replaced since he basically dropped the car off at Buschur and had them do all the work. Buschur keeps their history of head work on paper so it would be near impossible for them to look through all of them to see if it was done or not. I took the valve cover off and took some pics of the springs. Can you guys tell by the pics if they are upgraded or not?

Any idea why someone would just replace the seals and not the springs too?

yea...in most cases, a valve seal will not out live a valve spring. Their rubber. And oil consumption becomes the result.
it's kinda how your wheel lasts longer then your tires do...unless something is hitting them hard enough that you need to replace them. meaning, If your cam is not big enough to warrent that, or your wallet(that dudes wallet) wasn't deep enough you go the cheap route.

I don't live that way...but some do. If I replace, I build up.

I see your point but that is just so hard to believe because everything on my car is Buschur ( which is not cheap ) and all the work and tuning was done at Buschur. There is nothing on the car that he went cheap on so its kind of hard to believe he would go cheap on something that is so important. Do you have any pictures of aftermarket springs installed that I could look at to see the difference?
