Trans.

I've been wanting to do a 5 speed swap into my 06 MR. Im just curious can i use any 5 speed? Ranging from the year 03-06. Also I know Shep Sells a 5 speed to 6 speed conversion Kit. What does that consist of?

Thanks,

Evo 8 makes a better trans. for example when shep usually rebuilds the evo ix he put the evo 8 3rd and 4th gear in them because there alot longer than the evo ix 3rd and 4th. I have a 5speed with that set-up in my ix and love it. Theres always gonna be talk about the 5spd and the 6spd. u can make a tranny last as long as u want depends on how you drive the car. Now shep i believe he only builds the 5spd i may be wrong. But the differance between the 5 and 6 would all be on u. Do u like shifting alot? are you gonna drag race the car? Thats the things u gotta think about but good luck with your choice man.

I thought he did the 3rd and 4th cause they are longer than the 9's... better for drag!

I personally opted for a IX tranny found on 06's. I got one already built.. but before i go ahead and swap It in, am going to build my 6spd the best way money can buy and see if it hold the 500+ ft/lbs tq ~ 600ft/lbs tq I plan on running and for how long.

BTW: am pretty sure you can use any 03-06 5spd. The only differences I see is gearing from an V/// to IX!

The evo 8 05 transmission included the front LSD, LONG 4th gear for the track, and ACD...I believe evo 8 and 9 trannies are the same price..
