Approx 38.5 psi base pressure with the vacuum line disconnected from the FPR at idle. If you are adding an adjustable FPR, most guys set it at 43-43.5 psi base pressure at idle with the vacuum line disconnected.

no problem, I just added an adjustable FPR to my setup and wondered the same thing when I was setting it up.

No trying to hijack the thread, but when would a FPR be necessary over a stock one?

The original answer post was wrong. Base pressure for the 04 Evo 8 is 43.5. You set the adjustable FPR to 43.5 while vacuum hose is disconnected. Then you reattach the hose, and it should drop the gauge down to approx 39 psi. Just an FYI.
