Help!! New Clutch but throttle sticking.

Hi Guys,

I installed a new ACT HDSS clutch and flywheel last week and have been encountering a problem that occured even before my new clutch was put in.

Last night i went for a spirited drive on the way home. I hammered the throttle in 3rd gear and took it up to redline. I shifted back into neutral and the RPM's stuck at 6600rpm even after i shifted back to neutral. It only went back down when i pushed the clutch in again.

Some of my friends tell me it's common and in the tune and others tell me i have to adjust my throttle cable... others say i have to adjust the clutch pedal....

Do you guys have any advice on what it can be?? it only started happening after i got tuned with my new BBK back in January.

Thanks!

lubricate your throttle cable, and the throttle springs. check for any play or sticking.
when the throttle sticks, does the gas pedal have free play? or is it normal. if it's normal, it could be a different problem., but even if you feed it a ton of gas, you wont rev high unless the throttle plate is open anyway.

i checked my cable and throttle springs and i don't see any sticking... also, i don't experience any throttle issues when the car is in gear... only when i come from the higher RPM's and shift back to neutral. not sure what it can be... perhaps i'll lubricate it in the morning and test it out again.

it only happens from time to time... some days it's fine and others it's ok.

pop your hood, and manually play w/ your throttle cable, see if you can replicate it by twisting the throttle hard. also, double check behind your gas pedal, and make sure your floormat, or any wires (i.e. stereo, turbo timer ground etc) has no way to catch on to the back of the gas pedal.

Why 3rd gear, red line then neutral? why not 4th?
is that normal for breaking-in a clutch?

of course. so long as your not launching/slipping the thing it's fine. i've put about 1.1k miles on her since 2 weeks ago.
