If anyone thinks this is OT because it does'nt pertain to retaining the MAF I'll remove, but I thought it was a good read. AMS Testing.

And Mellon, You may be right, I don't know enough on the subject. So, Hopefully I'll find the time to find out on the dyno and confirm your statement.

good results going to a 4" intake but they don't have a 3"ish stock MAS...my point is, putting in a 4" intake pipe on when you have roughly a 3" MAS won't do anything for you....you still effectively have a 3" intake.

^OT, but Mellon, have you tried running the stock air box at all on your car? I'd like to modify mine to flow more and use it on my car, but haven't heard whether or not it can flow enough for the 600whp range. If you're making your power on a 3" MAF I don't see why it can't be made to work though.

Alright, I want to add to this.....

I just recently purchased a 3065 kit and the turbo outlet is 4''. Would I be better off just using a 4" to 3" reducer from outlet to intake? Still using the stock maf.

Another option I was looking at was the Dejon 4"intake it self.

It will cause such a restriction (in terms of velocity) and the turbine wheel speed will go through the roof, causing premature failure of the turbo. It makes the compressor have to "suck" harder.

If you don't believe me, go grab your mother's hair dryer and put your hand over the air inlet (covering about half of the intake vents) and tell me what happens after about 15 seconds.

I think I ran the stock airbox for about a week, it was my first mod probably. I didn't do any testing on what you could pull through there.

I had a 3" hard intake pipe on my gt30r (4" inlet) and was using stock airbox. I later converted to a 4" hard pipe with no maf.

my car spooled 500 rpm faster

edit:true story
