need advice for first mod

I've had my Evo7 for few weeks and am ready for some more power. I don't need 400hp and I still want the car to be reliable and live long. Should I go for a new exhaust or intake as a start? Do I need to reprogram the ECU for new exhaust?

Thanks

IMO you should have something to tune the A/F if you are going to do intake and exhaust. Also a boost controller would be good too.

The intake and exhaust won't really give you any noticable gains in your power. The Boost Controller will. The Greddy Profec B Spec II is simple to install and program. You don't have to use that model, it is just the one I am familar with. There is nothing like more constant boost throught he RPM range.

Raywong,

Got to be careful on mods. I know in HK, it's illegal to mods your car. But, I seen many cars mods anyway while I was in HK.

I will strongly suggest that you start with addon such as air intake and exhaust system. Once you get those baseline mod installed, you can go into ECU mods such as AFC (air fuel controller) or EBC (Electronic boost controller). Reprogram your ECU also good. It's really up to you which path you choose.

Make sure you choose a reputational manufacturer and try to stick with the manufacturer. HKS, Tomei, Jun, Apexi or Greddy is very good manufacturer.

do the usual exhaust/intake first, then a/f, then boost

BOlt On's first (exhaust, intake), then engine management (Piggy back), then misc. stuff. (brakes, brake lines).

Piggy Back v/s Boost controller depends on your wallet size.

I'd do a Short Shift Kit - first. The quicker in gear, the faster the acceleration times...
